Welcome! My name is Kevin Kahn, and this is my personal website. I believe in transparency, so this policy explains what personal information I collect and how I use it. It's pretty simple.
The only personal information I collect is what you voluntarily provide through the contact form on this site. I also collect anonymous analytics data (see the Analytics section below). The personal information I collect through the contact form includes:
When you submit the contact form, I also record your IP address and an approximate location (city, region, and country) derived from it. I use this to add context to your inquiry and to help prevent spam. If you arrive from a Google ad, I also collect ad attribution data — a click identifier (a "gclid", or one of Google's privacy-preserving variants "gbraid" and "wbraid") and campaign tags known as UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign, and content) — so I can tell which ad and campaign brought you here. See the Analytics and Google Ads sections below for more on this.
I use the information you provide for one reason: to respond to your inquiry. When you submit the contact form, your information is formatted into an email and sent directly to me. I also save your submission to a private database (hosted on Supabase) that only I can access, so I can keep track of inquiries and follow up with you. I keep inquiries only as long as I need them to follow up and for my own business records, and you can ask me to delete yours at any time. Your information is never sold or shared with anyone for marketing purposes.
This site uses Umami, a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics tool, to understand how visitors use the site. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track you across websites. The only data collected is anonymous usage information such as page views, referrer URLs, browser type, and device type. This data cannot be used to identify any individual visitor.
This site uses Google Ads conversion tracking to measure whether visitors who click on an ad go on to contact me. When you arrive from a Google ad, your link includes a click identifier (a "gclid", or one of Google's privacy-preserving variants "gbraid" or "wbraid") and may include campaign tags (UTM parameters). I store the click identifier in a first-party cookie on your browser for up to 90 days so that, if you later submit the contact form, I can tell which ad and campaign brought you here. These identifiers and tags are sent to me along with your contact form submission and saved with your inquiry. In addition, when you reach the thank-you page after submitting the form, a Google Ads conversion event fires so I can measure which ads lead to inquiries. No personally identifiable information is shared with Google through this process. If you would prefer not to have your visits tracked this way, you can opt out through Google's ad settings. You can also learn more about how Google handles data in their Privacy Policy.
I use Resend, a transactional email service, to reliably send the email from the contact form to my inbox. You can read their Privacy Policy to learn how they handle data. I also use Supabase to host the private database where contact form submissions are stored. Umami analytics is self-hosted on my own infrastructure, so no visitor data is shared with any third party.
You are in control of your information. You can, at any time, request a copy of the information you sent me or ask that I delete the emails containing your information. To make a request, please contact me at the email address listed below.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, please feel free to contact me.
